I am A Thomas

Why does Thomas get such a bad rap in scripture? So he wasn't in the room when Jesus walked THROUGH THE DOOR, maybe he was the only disciple not cowering in the corner; maybe he was out getting pizza for his timid friends, maybe... So he's skeptical about his friend’s encounter with his saviour. Wouldn’t you be skeptical? I like Thomas, he's my kind of guy, fortunately Jesus takes him seriously, so I guess there is room for me to doubt, room to ask, room to touch, room to believe

I guess in some very real ways I must declare myself. I AM A THOMAS. I am a man with deep questions and deep convictions. I follow Jesus - hopefully with passion and determination. I also am completely confronting Jesus with my questions. This I the blog of a man constantly following and constantly searching. What a journey, what a ride.

If you call my cell in the evening or on the weekend that noise in the background is probably the sound of pool, a gym or the U of M field house. I love being with and supporting my kids at in the sports they are involved in. You may call at some other time and here the noise of a resturant in the background, or maybe the haunting call of a starbucks barista as I enjoy conversation with someone. I love people and am always energized by a good conversation. If you call on sunday morning, I probably shouldn't be answering my cell as I am hosting a worship expereince or teaching at The Meeting Place where I have the opportunity to be a friend, guide, pastor and leader. If you catch me in a moment of solitude the background sounds may well be the call of a loon, the ring or a hammer or strains of music (often its jazz). These sounds often accompany my as i practice some of the things that cause newness in my life.
